Bermuda Open is a yearly, artist-led event presenting the studios of contemporary artists in The Hague.

For its fifth edition, more than 140 visual artists opened their studios to the public and welcomed you inside the spaces where art is made.

The public could discover over 20 locations throughout the city, from individual spaces and shared studio buildings, to artist-run initiatives and group exhibitions, getting the chance to meet the makers behind the works.

Founded in 2021 as a small initiative named after the triangular route connecting the first participating studios, Bermuda Open has grown into a city-wide event inviting audiences to experience the city’s contemporary art community first-hand.

Leaning into each other, Performance by Eilit Marom
   Nest
De Constant Rebecqueplein 20B
Leaning is a charged act of interdependence, one does not lean alone. Building on her practice of reclaiming lost freedoms through embodied tasks, Eilit Marom transforms a simple gesture into a negotiation of weight, breath, and trust - raising the question who has the right to lean and who carries the load. This work gives visibility to the fleeting physical negotiations of human solidarity, preserving the emotional traces of how we support one another.
With participants Melissa Bori, Nicky van Banning, Aleksandra Krapiva, Vincent Boers.

Highlight: Group Exhibition – Nightshift, Heden

Heden/Today and Bermuda Open Studios present a special exhibition together for the second time. NIGHTSHIFT sheds light on nightlife from various perspectives: from a collective festive event to an individual identity-defining moment. The show also highlights the night as a sanctuary for the exceptional, bizarre, and ominous, where every subculture can manifest itself without restrictions. The artists participating in this co-production share their fascination for nightlife and reflect in a poetic and non-judgmental way on the risks that nightlife can also entail, such as addiction, crossing borders and loneliness.

In addition to a selection of works from Heden's diverse collection, we are excited to present work by nine artists associated with Bermuda Open Studios: Adele Dipasquale, Dirk Hardy, Jesus Canuto Iglesias, Jonathan Hielkema, Koos Breen, Shana de Villiers, Silke Riis, Alice West and Femke Hoppenbrouwer.

NIGHTSHIFT was curated by Ariane Toussaint (Bermuda Open Studios) and Maarten de Leede (curator Stichting Heden Den Haag).
