Highlight: Group Exhibition – Nightshift, Heden

Heden/Today and Bermuda Open Studios present a special exhibition together for the second time. NIGHTSHIFT sheds light on nightlife from various perspectives: from a collective festive event to an individual identity-defining moment. The show also highlights the night as a sanctuary for the exceptional, bizarre, and ominous, where every subculture can manifest itself without restrictions. The artists participating in this co-production share their fascination for nightlife and reflect in a poetic and non-judgmental way on the risks that nightlife can also entail, such as addiction, crossing borders and loneliness.

In addition to a selection of works from Heden's diverse collection, we are excited to present work by nine artists associated with Bermuda Open Studios: Adele Dipasquale, Dirk Hardy, Jesus Canuto Iglesias, Jonathan Hielkema, Koos Breen, Shana de Villiers, Silke Riis, Alice West and Femke Hoppenbrouwer.

NIGHTSHIFT was curated by Ariane Toussaint (Bermuda Open Studios) and Maarten de Leede (curator Stichting Heden Den Haag).

About

Bermuda Open is a yearly open studio event that presents studios of artists with a contemporary practice in the city of The Hague (NL). The title, Bermuda, is inspired by the triangle shape formed by the streets and studios that initiated the project, back in 2021.

The fourth edition (9–10 November 2024) presented over 115 artist studios in 27 locations throughout the city.

Bermuda Open is a non-profit initiative with no legal existence yet, relying on the participation and commitment of the artists – thanks to their volunteer work. The 2024 edition was organized by Ariane Toussaint. Adviser: Hein Eberson. Production: Jonathan Hielkema. Tiny Art Gallery team: Marijn van der Leeuw, Boris Steiner, Jonathan Hielkema. Communication: Cathleen Owens, Hanae Wilke, Linda Overzee. Graphic Design: Carmen Dusmet Currasco

Bermuda Open 2024 was proudly supported by Stroom Den Haag.
